Jim Wagner Boker RBB Jim Wagner: is one-nanded opening possible?

I just received the small version of Jim Wagner's reality based folder in the mail and have found that it is impossible to open with just one hand. It seems amazing to me, since this knife was built for self defense and one-handed opening would seem like an important aspect. Am I missing something? Should I try and take some tension of the blade? Any suggestions?

Thanks

All the ones I have had work fine for one handed opening using the thumb disc, inertial opening, however is fairly difficult, especially with the Tanto version. The Recurve blade has more weight behind it to overcome the backsprings, and inertial opens much better.
Thanks, Terry

Yes, you might have to adjust the pivot. Just don't get it too loose
or you'll have blade wobble. It has a sweet spot.

Yeah, I have the Tanto version, which doesn't have a thumb disc. I'll definitely try adjusting the pivot. I hope it helps because I really do like this knife. For some reason it annoys me that it takes two hands to open it. I guess I'm just wierd like that. Thanks for the info guys.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the lockback version.
Sounds like you have the button lock, I assume.
Loosening the pivot will work.
Thanks, Terry

I have the same knife. I also had the same reaction about it taking two hands to open, until....
I accidentally flipped it open! All you do is hold in the lock release. flick your wrist, and it opens smoother than anything I have ever played with!
Now that I understand it, it is my EDC knife.

Aloha rooikat,

Yeah, but when you do that, don't you have to "time" releasing the Button in order to lock the blade opened? Otherwise, the blade will just ricochet off the stop pin.

God bless and TIA.

the smaller version was originally auto. I have one, recurved model, and is auto, I suppose that you don't have the coil spring.

Daywalker,
No problems at all. I press the button, flick and release. It has not not worked yet.
Wiht my knife, you barely need to flick your wrist at all. My wife is getting sick of the knife, as I probably flicked it open 43654336 times during 'Battlestar' last night.

I am opening it as I type this. No, no bounce back.

My vote ... just put the spring in it and call it a day. Ebay has them and Lowes has the right sized torx bit (in a driver set)
