Hello. I'm totally new to blade forums but if I could get any information/help about a knife I thought this was a good place to start. I have a friend with a Jim Whitehead miniature knife that's gorgeous. She got it from a serious collector in WA. It has a Damascus fixed blade, ivory handle, with custom engraving on both sides in 18k gold. She does not collect miniature knives but from all the research she did, it seems like they can be very pricey. It's about 1.5 inches total in length with custom box. Can anyone help me with the value of this?? She was told that there is only one in the world and it's in museum quality. I would appreciate any help/ feedback. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to blade forums!

Unfortunately, because of your membership level, you are unable to ask for value of a knife.

Miniature knives are very much a niche in the collecting world, not everyone who collects custom knives is interested in miniatures. The makers name and reputation often dictates value of a mini more than quality. James D. Whitehead is a very accomplished mini maker from Fresno, CA and I know he hangs outon the engravers cafe site. Maybe contact him directly to establish a history and any other info of the knife.

Btw, we all would love to see some pics!
