I was checking out some of my older copies of Blade magazine and in the January 2002 issue I noticed three great looking Bowies by Jimmie Buckner. All I know about this maker is that he is a MS and that he learned knifemaking from Bill Bagwell. Anyone here know anything about this maker and what do you think of his knives?

Go back a few more months and there was a profile of Mr. Buckner in Blade. If I come across the issue I'll let you know. It features a folder on the opening page (IIRC) and a drop dead gorgeous Bagwell-esque bowie further on in the article.

If you could help with which issue this was I would really appreciate it. I went back a year from the Jan. 2002 issue and found no maker's profile on Jimmie Buckner.

Was it one about balance in a blade ? Those were phenomenal lines in his bowies and I thought his commens about each knife being tailored to the user were very sensible. Nope, haven't found any mroe info about him either. I am fan of Bagwell ideas. Jason.

OK, I got the magazine part right...
:o
It was the July 2000 issue of Tactical Knives !!!
The cover has the Carson/Ralph -Edge Tech - Impulse & Magna on it.
:D

Jimmie does indeed make a very fine fighting bowie. First time I met him was at a Southern Riddle of Steel put on by James Keating and John Saucier in New Orleans. At the last show I saw him at his work had only gotten better! You can't go wrong with his blades.

Thanks Ebbtide, even though I only have a dozen or so Tactical Knives I just happened to have the July 2000 issue. Luck was on my side on this one.

Anyone have any luck figuring out where we can see more Buckner knives ? The ones shown in that article were awesome. Gotta feed the addiction. Jason. ;)

Please start a new thread. Let the dead rest in peace
