As some of you know,I collect Jimmy Fikes knives and am always looking to add something to the collection. I was fortunate to be the high bidder on Ebay for well used Tanto.

I keep in touch with Jimmy and contacted him about sharpening this one. He's still not set up but hopes to be making knives again this Summer.

Most importantly he wanted me to let people know that they should contact him to get on his list!! What great news!! His e-mail is oleyfermo@aol.com he'll be glad to hear from you.

For those that haven't seen it, here's a link to an album of some Jimmy's knives:

win,

wow, what a great score! did jimmy provide any information about the knife, like steel used, year of production?

best regards,
hans

Superb addition, Win, Congrats !

Saw Fikes' bent dagger, I think it was at Nordic, then it was gone.
I remember wondering if you snagged it ?

Congrats Win! That is a nice tanto. The album has some amazing knives. The Parang and Camp knife duo is sublime!

I've never handled a Fikes knife, but looking at those pictures makes me want to.

I love what this tanto illustrates. It's a blade style thousands have done before, but it's clearly one of the top 3 I've ever seen, unique, a perfect representative of the style.

This is cool - your enthusiasm is contagious! Nice gallery of photos too showing the different but related stylistic expressions in some of the maker's work. Thanks for putting this up for all to see.

I got an email from Jimmy and he's really excited at the response this post has gotten. Thanks for the nice comments on my album, I'm always looking for more pictures of Jimmy's work.

Doug, I did not buy the dagger, I did get a Tanto that was similar. I try to get different styles and logos and that one had both elements.

Congratulations on the new blade Win. Thanks for posting the good news about Jimmy. I just sent him an email to get on that list.

I'm going to resurrect this old post for a couple of things. I just wrote my Happy New Year greeting to Jimmy, when I hear back I'll post back up.

I have scanned some old articles from "Fighting Knives" and put them on my Fototime page. I,also, created a page with my Tantos and an article from FK. I think the one pictured above is the one featured, although the blade length differs. Who'd lie about length? The sheath is a Bladetech and very well made.

What good is this without something new? A very good friend of mine gifted me a terrific Fikes Tanto, it's got all the good stuff and is in perfect condition. I lightened photo of the handle a bit to show it and the Fikes "chop" logo.

Win,

Thanks for the news about Jimmy. Your collection is amazing. That Jungle Honey still stands out as a killer blade.
