Scored this one yesterday. It's a knife I know and played with before, but now it's mine ;)
A Jimmy Fikes bowie (I see it as a bowie) from the '80s, with a 10" carbon steel blade. The steel is O1 I think. I have no idea what the fittings are made of, and what wood is the handle.
It's a knife that was used and re-sharpened, but it's in great shape. Just some minor scratches and patina on the blade. I won't have it refurbished, looks great like this.
Cuts great, the very high flat grind and thin enough edge make a fantastic cutter.
The grinds and fit of the knife are spectacular IMO, Jimmy sure knows what he's doing.

Definitely a very cool score, really like it, especially the cool guard on this one.
Fikes sheath as well?

Thank you :)
The sheath from the pic is not by Fikes, I have the original Fikes sheath too but I like this one better.

That is a rare find and an awesome score - congrats man! I'm with Doug - I really like the guard. What's the wood?

I like it too.

Can someone provide a little more info. on Jimmy Fikes?.. i know nothing about him. Except hearing that his knives are rare and sought after.

That is a great score, congratulations! There are a lot of Jimmy's knives in Europe, I've gotten a couple from there. I like the logo, one I've never seen. Wonder if the sheath was made in Europe. The Parang I have came with a most unusual, heavy duty sheath.

Cool link,Win.
Although I've viewed it before, nice to do it again.

Jimmy Fikes, one of the original 5 MasterSmiths, guru of all things sharp and a witty, funny guy as well.
He was injured shortly after doing a thread on sharpness evaluation and testing, right here on this forum, surprised you didn't read it,I'll send you a link sometime today.
We all are hoping he gets back to making knives.
Matt Lamey bought his old homestead and shop and that's his base of operations now.

Congratulation. This looks different from the other Fikes I've seen before.

Great snag Flava ..... one I would be happy to have in my collection, a timeless piece!

Jimmy is one of my heroes.

Great score Flavius!

I like the tsuba style guard, neat stuff.

You can bet that thing is a cutting machine, coming from Jimmy!

The wrapped handle is a more recent thing, as I don't think Jimmy had the patience in recent years to wait any longer than a wrapped handle takes in order to get out and cut something with every knife!!! :D

Very nice knife and a good catch.Fikes' knives have a certain "COOL",factor to them.
If you ever get tired off this knife :D,you may want to send it off to Win Heger to join his fine collection of Fikes' knives :D:D.

Thanks for the plug, Raj!:) Not that aren't a few hanging out in your neighborhood.
