...do dealers like BHQ and KC (I usually stick to BF supporting dealers) tell me they are not allowed to sell and ship BMs to me in New Zealand?

I have 8 BMs, all ordered online from a few other retailers in the U.S., but the retailers I want to buy from...can't sell/send to me? Waddup with that?

I gotta have me a mini CR, and got one on the way, but had to go through the big river site to get one. Not really what I want to do. I want to support BF supporting reputable dealers, not least because I'm so far away and want to be confidant in who I'm buying from.

Just doesn't make sense to me.

Did they tell you that their policy had something to do with Benchmade?

As I recall yes, but I deleted the emails and can't remember exactly what they said, now that you ask.
I have no prob buying Spydercos and ZTs from them, so just assumed it was a BM specific thing, not the retailers policy.
Maybe I got it wrong... possible I was too busy having a hissy fit to pay close attention 'cos I really want that mini CR...
Jimmy will put me straight I'm sure.

Bummer...

I'm pretty sure @Jordan@DLT will ship international? I could be wrong but I thought they were pretty international friendly and are a supporting bladeforums dealer.

I'm in the states but I've always gotten great service from them and I really like their selection.

This is from the KC website... and just checked my history there too. I bought a ZT 0770CFM390 from them, shipped 9/26/2014. Looks like somethings changed since then.

Benchmade and Zero Tolerance (ZT) Products

Interesting. It may have something to do with protecting their international dealers?

Glad you have a Mini coming!

Since we have contracts with Exclusive International Distributors in many countries we do ask our US dealers not to ship outside of the US and Canada. Here is a link to a list of our Exclusive International Distributors for reference.

Thanks for your reply Jimmy.
Please understand buddy, I'm not venting at you personally. And I know what I say here has no effect, but I'm gonna say it anyway. Please pass it up the chain.

The range of BM's available here in NZ is very limited. I guess they might 'get one in for me', if I wanted to wait much longer and pay a lot more than I would by just ordering it direct from the U.S. myself.
Which I assure you, I do not and will not.

A Crooked River for example, direct from KC right now would cost me NZ$295 to NZ$300 including shipping. If I buy it here in NZ then it will cost me NZ$369+freight.
A Bugout from the U.S. would be NZ$180 to $185. Here in NZ it's $245+freight, and is not available here until March, several months after it's release.
And a 943 is a ridiculous NZ$389+ postage.

No sir, that does not work for me.

Benchmade, I have bought 13 of your knives since 2013 (9 for me, 2 sourced for a mate, 2 I gave as gifts). All bought direct from U.S. online retailers, most before MAP enforcement, and a few since despite the high prices. I'm proud to own and use my BM's.
But if you think I'm going to continue being a customer whilst being starved of choice, made to wait and gouged on price just because I live in another country then you are very much mistaken.

My Mini CR is on the way to me right now, direct from a U.S. retailer. If I can't continue to buy direct from U.S. retailers then that Mini CR will be the last new BM I ever buy.

Sincerely
CP

I have a similar problem in the UK.
I can’t see a UK distributor on that list, I’ll take the job where do I sign?
And while your on can you add international to the custom knife builder please?

I have the same problem, had ordered a Bugout and some other knives from KC, but when the Bugout finally came in they realized they couldn't send it because of Benchmades rule. Ended up buying one more Spyderco instead of the Bugout. Well, maybe I'll just wait for a updated version of the Bugout and hope to find it closer to home without the price being ridiculously high...
