Jimping pros and cons? (noob alert)

Hi!!

I am new to all this (first post!!), and am trying to understand my own preferences better, partially by understanding some of yours.

What are the pros and cons of thumb/finger jimping on a knife? Pros are pretty self explanatory but what are the cons?

It might be uncomfortable, but when properly applied that won't be an issue.

The only cons I can think of are the aforementioned Comfort problem is the jimping is too aggressive or poorly thought out.

The other is just a cleanliness issue. When quartering an animal you may get tallow or blood in the jimping that could be transferred to the inside of your sheath.
