Got my LW manix 2 today and its awesome!! If your a manix fan get one :)

I do have to say that I do not have any experience with the BD-1 steel but if spyderco thinks its good enough for a golden knife I'm not going to question it

On to the question.. Right out of the box the first two things I noticed is the weight and the jimping. While I'm not disappointed but just curious.. Why do these not have the angled jimping that really locks your finger in like my M4 manix and the para 2's?

My military does not have it either but untill I got the LW manix today I just assumed the angled jimping was on the newer spydercos but I guess not?

A picture is worth a thousand words

I would comment, but since Australian customs confiscated mine, I have no experience with this knife. Not that I'm bitter about that, or anything. :) Much.

I'll have my new FFG G10 Manix 2 tomorrow. I'll update then how the jimping is.

That would be great thanks!

Numbersman: you know there's a customs guy loving his new spyderco :D

Link2derek: agreed :) maybe Mr Glesser will see this and enlighten us

Like I said I'm more curious then anything.. The straight up and down jimping is great and I've been using it for over 3 years but you can definitely tell the difference when you stick your thumb to the angled vs straight

The jimping on my second generation Manix 2 and a PM2 that was made in 2013 both have what looks to me like straight cut jimping.

I'll be honest. Sal and Eric are kinda everywhere when it comes to consistency. There is just no logic other then, "we just did it this way". But that is what I like about Spyderco.

OK, when I first saw this thread, I said....Amazon Prime :D. So I ordered last night and got the lightweight about 10 minutes ago. The jimping is stronger in the forward position and not like my Military which is even.....

Thank you 10fingers!!!!!

I had been on the fence with this, and ordered it because of this thread for no other reason than having Monday off with the wife, was bored and got a nice cash thank you from a client. This is a fantastic EDC blade. My Endura's are giving it dirty looks....and might take it out when I go to bed. I was hesitant about that handle, but I cannot see any issues with it. Also my first ball lock Spydie.

Awesome! I'm glad you like it :) and I agree its a perfect EDC

honestly like it better then my FFG G10 manix 2.. I too was a little hesitant also because I haven't seen much about it and i wasn't so sure about the wire clip (which is very nice) but figured id throw it on my list of spydercos my wife asked for and I'm very happy she picked it out of all the others to gift me

Well I got my new FFG G10 Manix 2 and the jimping on the spine is straight and not angled though it still locks the hand in pretty good. I think this one is going to be a catch and release though. Just not my style I'm afraid.
