I had a limb fall in the backyard and decided to do a little testing. I wanted to see how a SR Chopweiler would do in chopping it up so the garbage man would take it. It has to be short pieces, bundled up. When I went to get the Chopweiler it was next to the Belt Hawk so I grabbed it too just for grins.
The main limb was maybe two inches. Since it was loose on the ground there was some "give" when struck. I was surprised how may chops it took for the Chopweiler to cut it in two. Maybe a dozen or so. I guess it would do better if the branch was laid against a stump. Then I grabbed the Belt Hawk and did a test chop on one of the branches. Wow it slices through in one swing. I tried a few more and the same result. You can see the clean slices in the upper left of the photo. Then I tried the main beam and it took about half the swings to cut through. The Hawk is much sharper so it cut faster even though it is lighter. Another great design by John.
