We when I don't have time for day hikes or overnights but I need some woods time, I go out to a state park here in Ohio. Basically I'll make a fire, play with a knife and make some coffee. Sometimes I'll e joy a KitKat or a cigar with said coffee.
Yesterday I hit a five mile day hike I will admit, it wore me out. So today I decided to take the JK Nessmuk out to see how it performs. Basically just fire making duty (with is 90% of what my knives do I guess). Here are some pics.
This is the kit I brought. In addition to the JK I brought a small saw and a BHK bushcrafter.

First some shavings. All of the wood was wet and really not ideal. Most of the shavings were made by the JK. The JK actually excelled in this. It really surprised me how well I ripped through wood. There would eventually be a ton more shavings

Not really an action shot but I used the JK's 90 degree spine to strike a ferro rod.

Batonned a few pieces of wet wood and set my little tripod up.

And a glamor shot to end it

JK Nessmuk is a great piece. I will be taking this one out again soon.
At the moment, I have so many knives and so many that I've never used that I'm going out daily and using them in an attempt to cull the herd a bit. The BHK bushcrafter might not make the cut but I'll be keeping the muk.
