Using an image hosting site is the best way. I use picasa, but photobucket and flickr are common too. Either way, copy the image tag into the "Insert Image" box in the reply. Many people also host their images through BFC, but I am unfamiliar with that method.

I will see if I can find a tutorial around here that explains it better than that.
