hey all,

I've long been a fan of the JK Hiker but this one has been sitting in my building for a while awaiting..something. I noticed a crack in the ebony on the rear of the right scale and (strangely) it even felt like the ebony had shrunk below the tang. Ebony doesn't usually do that easily to my knowledge. This one came to me form someone else who had used it and used it well, I can only guess it was in a very different climate then here and the change effected it.

Since I don't plan on putting my JK's away anytime soon when they get a little worn in I tend to re-vamp them

Now

I'm not quite finished with this one, but close enough for now,

The JK Tools are coming out in bocote so well I thought I'd stick with the theme,

You might not go this far but I'm sur wwe're all cleaning, modifying, changing with time so please post other pictures of well used, love and maybe even dusted off JK's.

thanks for looking

Nice job! Over all the years I've been making knives I've only had problems with two handles, one in snake wood and one in ebony, that's why I seldom use them anymore.

I like ebony but don't mind having to change a knife over time. Shows its doing its job in mY mind.

That reminds me somehow of my grandfather's favorite axe - his pride and joy, it had had three heads and seven handles, and he said he didn't know what he'd do if he ever lost it . . .

That is real cool Peter.... It creates a story and conversation arond the knife. It gains character!

Thanks everyone. Johns clean grinds and aqeso.e knives shine through no matter what you do to them :)
