A couple of pics so far of a prototype liner lock by JK. He has a forum here with some pretty dedicated followers--feel free to check it out, visit his website, and chit chat with the regulars! John is the kind of maker who is constantly trying new things in order to sell, please his regulars, and garner new customers. He builds to suit if it is your design, had quite a few models, and has cut down to just a few tried and true ones.

Recently he has been bitten by the folder bug, and started cranking out frame locks and liner locks. I've always like liner locks, so when he asked for a few volunteers to test this prototype, I jumped at the chance.

Disclaimer: I am not a technical reviewer, so if you want specs and all that stuff, look it up over at the JK forum. I am a regular guy who enjoys having a pocket knife with me almost everywhere.

Pics show my Buck 110, the JK in red, my Benchmade mini-griptilian, and my Emerson A-100. I think the JK positions very well for its' size and weight. The ratio of handle to blade is a good one for me. I would want a clip added, which JK can certainly provide.

The thumb stud is placed well and is large enough to make opening a pretty easy action. I have folders that open smoother than this, but you can always add a snap if your like to flick open your blade. There is a bit of drag on the blade due to the liner when closing, but this is only a prototype, and nothing that bugs me so much that I would heisitate to buy it. I'm convinced either I could modify it or send it back to John for a bit of TLC.

The pins are recessed and make the knife a bit easier to use for extended periods of time, not to mention better looking too!

I am not a fan of the red scales, he originally had made yellow ones and swapped them when someone griped about the yellow. John can provide just about any color of synthetic handle material. All you need to do is ask.

Specs:
3 5/8" closed
2 1/2" blade of 1/8" thick O1
1/4" pivot pin, surrounded by a 3/8" diameter bronze bushing, with .032 bronze washers on each side
.063 thick titanium liners
1/8" thick red handles

More pics will be coming as I take them!

Rockywolf mentioned a clip, so I thought I would show a photo of a larger model with one.

very nice! I know it's not easy making a good fixed blade knife, I imagine a folder is more complicated yet.

I haven't kept up lately with the JK stuff. Looks like I better start paying attention because that is awesome!

Tose folders are looking sweet. I really like the stout spear pointed blade they have

Very nice I will be getting one of those soon. BTW, great looking fixed blade you've got there too.;)

Nice knife! Are they making any plans to have these made with a clip or drop point?

Awesome Sardines too. Got to love King Oscar.

More pics from a walk yesterday. Had a nice snack and saw a few turtles.

Nice pair! Great looking folder! What model is the fixed blade?

If anyone reading has ever had a desire for a Kephart, John's rendition of it is spot on! He nailed the handle and it just melts into any grip you choose.

The fixed blade is the design that protourist did for my anniversary knife contest, called the Rule #9.
