As I’ve been looking through some of the threads here both older and new I couldn’t help but start thinking about all the great memories I have around both the knives and the people here.

The Gatherings were always something I looked forward to. Whether at John’s shop, Andy’s house or the “sleepovers” in Michigan they were a ton of fun and gave me a chance to meet so many great people, see and trade some awesome blades, and even have a few nips of “spicy apple juice” 😉

The forum itself was also a daily visit for me. Reading all the posts, checking out the latest JK’s heading off to new homes, eagerly awaiting the pic of my next JK in the ready to ship thread…tons of fond memories here as well. The contests, the comments, the Box O Goodies…too much to list.

The forum was also a place just to talk. People shared all kinds of things about their lives. The passing of a loved one, a cherished dog going over the bridge, an illness. They shared happy things too like a new baby in the family or a new job, vacation pics, fun stuff…all kinds of stuff really.

I guess visiting here after so long has made me a little nostalgic. What are some of your fond, funny, or even poignant memories of this place that John built?

I am jealous that I never got to attend one of your gatherings. The pics and the stories looked like a lot of fun!

Does anyone remember when we did fantasy football here? I had never played before, and ended up winning, haha. I still have my Patriots colors themed knife for winning 1st place, I'll have to dig it out and take a pic of it.

I think I remember you carrying one (or maybe 2) Byrd folders that you modded the hole to a wave opener at one of the Gatherings at John’s
Spyderco Tenacious.

I still have them, carry one of them still during my workday. It sees some light use, try to use the utility blade knife for most stuff. Outside of work I've got a Kershaw Emerson CQC-6 now. I like those guys. Got it and the trainer for it through Natchez a few years back for under $30 for the set.

I’m a fan of the Tenacious, carry mine quite often.

Yes! Those were fun times indeed.

I was lucky to win one year, and John made me a leather sheath with lacing on it to resemble a football.
Bears colors of course.

I gifted that beauty to a good friend who went to many Bears games with me.

I t would have been even better if you could have attended a gathering, Glenn!

Good thread, outdoorsfan outdoorsfan

There was knife throwing, horseshoe tossing, slingshot contests, fire starting contests, carving contests, great food, and seems like there was , on rare occasions, adult beverages. 😇

Don’t forget the “Easter Egg” hunt the one year, I think that was the last Spring Michigan Gathering, after that we only did the Fall one.
