So a while ago on the USN I auctioned off my JK phoenix with the proceeds going to MS Hanna! it was a great success and was actually auctioned off again over there by the buyer to help hanna some more. Well it was one of my favorite woods tools. comfy handles. great scandi grind that was easy to sharpen and keep sharp. John had made me a nice leather sheath with mine and firesteel holder. it was about perfect for those over nighters in the woods. well anyways Mykel was kind enough to donate his for Hanna also and Tal made a amazing sheath for it. I entered the raffle a few times but much to my sadness didn't win. A few days later I was contacted by mountain wildman. he had won the raffle but unfortunately for him the knife didn't fit his hands. he offered it up to me at a fair price so I jumped on it. this version was a modified design but mykel and I'm not sure which one I like better yet. they are both very awesome. I do dig a kephart so I'm thinking this might be my favorite. I'm glad to have the JK phoenix back in my stable at this time. still has John's good heat treat. I took it out on the porch and immediately made some fuzz sticks and checked to make sure it threw some sparks. it was soaring threw the wood and threw some amazing glowing globs of fire :) a few pictures. I just want to give a big THANKS to Mykel and Tal for donating this awesome combo. and thanks mountain for the opportunity to own it.

I know that was a lot of talking lol so on to the pics :)

Nice setup and awesome sheath to keep it in!

I can't stop playing with this bad boy. it feels just like it was made for my hand. I'm glad to have a full size JK in my stable again. cuts like a boss! I been on the porch all day making fuzz sticks and figure 4's traps lol. my daughter (6) told me I have a problem lol!

Awesome pics G.S.
If the handle was closer to 5 inches I would have kept it, I absolutely love the sheath Tal. made for it.
I'm glad it's found a home and some love!!

Way cool grunt!
Knowing how much you liked the Phoenix & the fact that you gave your other one up for Hanna,I was hoping you'd win the raffle.
I'm glad you finally got another Phoenix to play with & I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of this one.

On a side note...IIRC,that Osage on the handle came from kyturkey's family farm.
And the Osage for the fire steel handle I got from some blocks of wood that KFU donated for Hanna's cause.(thanks again Chris)
Being a fan of Osage as I am I snagged the one block that Chris donated.

That whole package has quite the history & with all the fine folks involved I'd say it is pretty special.
Congrats Man.

Very nice. I knew you really wanted it and since I have the original Phoenix, I was NOT going to bid on it. I'm delighted you got this and that you are so happy. Congrats and never sell it! Lol

Lol nope this one is staying with me. I only auctioned off the last one to help with Ms Hanna. This package is a special one due to its history and all its done helping also. it will be passed on to my little girl when she is older.

That is one heck of a nice package. It's history and all the love and sweat put into it make it priceless.
My hat is off to all of you that had hands in this project.

Glad to hear you got it. When Mountain Wildman told me he got it, but it was too small for him, I suggested he get in touch with you. Turns out he already had! You were destined to get that one. Funny thing, everyone who has one loves it, but I can`t seem to sell the darn things!

yeah I'm not sure why. I love the design both original and this modified one. handles are perfect shape and size for me. awesome scandi grind. more than enough blade for most woods bumming tasks. I used it in the kitchen last night also and it was great for food prep. I can't find a negative thing about it. and in this sheath tal made for it what a freaking package. thanks for suggesting he get a hold of me sir. I appreciate it. she will get lots of use and love from me so no worries there :)
