Potowatomi Slim Necker

6.75 inches OAL
Blade – 2.75 inches
3/32 01 steel
Orange G10 handles

This is one of those knives that I just had to have when I first saw it.

It’s kind of like a paring knife with a better handle, better leverage, and better usability. I’m sure it would make a fantastic neck knife – but I’ve never used it in such a manner.

I have used it as a paring knife – peeling potatoes and carrots, slicing fruits, and cubing vegetables. All done with an ease that makes mundane tasks enjoyable.

So much so that I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if my wife took it from me and kept it for herself.

Outside this knife imitates a dedicated carving knife: it’s a mean slicer with great leverage and it’ll bite deep if you want it to. And yet it’s easy to control when those intricate cuts are called for.

With a full tang, durability isn’t a concern unless you’re going well out of your way in an effort to break it.

Mine even came with a built-in loss prevention system: the bright orange handles show up exceedingly well against all sorts of backgrounds.

The handle is comfortable over extended use and in a variety of positions and the choked-up grip gives you precise control.

Yeah, I know. This review is short and sweet. But it does what it’s supposed to without wasted time or motion.

And that is the point.

The Potowatomi Slim Necker is short and oh so sweet. It does what it’s supposed to do, without wasting time or motion.

Nice pics and review, Tahts -

I thought this one would be a good one with the "handful" handle and the shortish blade.

I am thinking this would be a good whittler, and good for trap making and bushcrafting with the leverage provided by the full handle and short blade.

Jeff does know what makes a nice knife.

best regards -

Nice review, and photos. I would like to add that this is one of several knives that were designed by BF member jds1.

I like this one too, but with John having made me what is, in my opinion, his best knife, the EWOK. This little one looks like a good slicer.
