JK Toby's Knife (JK TK)
Overall Length: 6 3/4"
Blade: 3"
Thick: 3/32 (but also available in 1/8") O1 steel
Role: EDC/bird and trout/paring+kitchen knife

When I got my first Jk Knife, lo' those many 9 months or so ago, you could pretty much have the knife you wanted in the same month. Early this year however it seems every other sucker here started to realize it and suddenly his order list began to grow, deservedly, to a four month wait list.
So I booked a few hold spots and asked for as much help as I could on the forum to do what I'd wanted to for a while: take advantage of the JK Design your own knife opportunity.
This is my design, but John breathed quality and life into.
I know it might sound crazy to most folks but this little guy isn't just an edc for me anymore, I see it as something I'd walk into the woods with.
As with most Jk's it came convexed But I've found it relatively easy to sharpen, real sharp, and it holds an edge for quite a while depending on what your doing - if I do nothing but whittle on wood in a day then I need to sharpen it up, other tasks can be done for a week and it doesn't really need to be sharpened but I touch it up.
The blade shape and comfort of the handle mean I don't find anything I can't do with it. Although sometimes it takes more time, or extra thought.
I've cut apples, bread, wood, plastic, chicken, beef, heck I've even taken the time it takes to break open a watermelon (under 2 minutes, not bad really.)
Plus it patinas, which is just pretty...and rust proof.
The design is mine but the quality and execute are all Johns. Outdoorsfan asked me an interesting questions not long after receiving it, he wanted to know if there is anything I would change. No, I can honestly say there is not. I like the few small things like the off the shoulder scales (not just for looks, although I do like it, but also very handy in my experience for grip in close up work or if you really use it in the slippery world of fishing which I do when I can)
The steep angle on the finger grove at the butt is easy to find and helps draw it even when i'm in a hurry. I'm also very happy I took the "risk" of the first Zircote knife from John, the wood is gorgeous, both subtle and with deep contours to the grain that make it interesting and old worldy.
Anyone who wants "MY knife" could do worse then thinking of a smaller one for everyday that can walk into the woods Or thats my idea anyway
. Its not going to be an effective baton, but I'll point out that having never had to baton while camping I continue to live, eat, and stay warm - weird, I know.
In the end I've got JK quality on a fixed blade I can take with me everywhere. It fits into my fishing kit and'll cut line and gut all day long. The grip is firm, the contours comfortable, and the handle adjustable up to 4" and beyond for big handed fellas.
Finally it cuts, and it's fun while it does.
Hope your all having fun with knives as well,
thanks for looking,
