Here are my thoughts behind this knife along with some photos. Its not complete just yet. Still have to post photos and review of the Defensive aspects that this knife is capable of.

PART 1

I have always liked the Seax (viking) type knife design. I have a similar piece from another maker that I purchased several years ago but wanted something with a longer, thicker blade. Who else to do a custom piece but John (JK Knives):)
The knife came to life pretty quick (which is not a surprise coming from John). After I received it I had a chance to carry and try it out. I felt it still needed a bit more work on the handle. I needed the handle a little thinner and shorter so back it went. With a few modifications it now conceals very well and still offers a great grip. I have to add that the changes were done quickly and John even made a kydex cross draw sheath and works great for this knife.

Here are before and after pics of the knife:

very cool, I like the Viking idea and the knife looks great

what were the specs on this one again?

PART 2

The design offers great general purpose cutting ability. The long straight edge of the blade offers tremendous cutting power yet still slices and dices in the kitchen.
It cut through tomatoes , cucumbers and onions without a problem. Not to mention it torn up the sausage and pork chops:) even though it wasnt designed with kitchen duty in mind it will do just fine with exception of making
rose pedals out of tomato skins...lol

PART 3

As far as outdoor and camping needs the Viking is capable of making feather sticks. I started to baton it through a log we used for a fire in the evening but the baton I used was destroyed by the aggressive top edge of the knife. I never really baton cause I use a saw or kukri for for that kind of stuff (especially now that I will be getting my JK kukri). It also had no problem sparking a fire steel but I never took pics of the fire I started that night:

I really love this one. Kinda reminds me of a Halloran seax. Great job on the design and of course John did an excellent job on the fit/finish. Looking forward to seeing more!
