Well,I received my Friction Folder XL (with semi wharnie blade) at work yesterday.
And man am I glad I ordered this baby/beast.;)
Great knife John, thanks for another well designed tool.

I carried it all day & fell in love with it.
It'll be taking over as my work edc knife now, that's how impressed I am with it.
I was carrrying a BM Grip that I bought from a coworker a couple of months ago,but want to actually use one of my JKs on a daily basis & not just when I can make it to the woods.
Plus a fixed blade wouldn't cut it(sorry for the pun)with the sheeple at work.
Enter the JKFFXL,in one of the best blade steels out there...01.

Besides cutting a variety of things like card board, plastic straps, air hose & what have you at work,I was using the point of the 2 grinds on the tanto blade of the Grip to open the little pint size cans we keep paint & preservative grease in.
The trouble with that is the Grip required very frequent sharpening despite being 154cm.
Enter the JK FF with the little tail(tang,?) sticking out the back of the blade when folded.
I beveled the tang a bit & now it is perfect for opening the various cans we use at work on a daily basis.

It rides perfectly in the side pocket of my coveralls too.(bye bye Grip)
And the Ti clip holds it very securely.

I wasn't sure how I'd like a friction folder with the tang extending out the back when folded, but it doesn't get in the way when in the side pocket of my coveralls.
And with a little mod makes a great little pry tool.:)
It'll ride in an outer pocket of a back pack or the cargo pocket of a pair of pants/shorts just fine I'm sure.

I was also curious about lockup,or lack of.
Despite not having a stiff back spring or any sort of lock,(but the tang)it is very solid in use.
I couldn't stop whittling with it during every break yesterday & today and even tried battoning some smaller pieces of wood to make some feather sticks.
It is not the optimal platform for battoning as it wanted to fold on me & trying to keep it from folding while hitting the blade requires one to keep pulling the handle up,which is the opposite of what you want to be doing while battoning.
I did manage to get a couple of small pieces off to make feather sticks though.(and it made some fine curlies too.)
All in all,I like it.
Solid in use & no worries about it folding up on me while using it + it has a built in mini pry bar.;)

Thanks again for another great tool John.

Ya'll got yours on order yet?
