JKM-1 and a khukuri beginner

In looking over the posts in this forum, I see reference to a JKM-1 named after James Mattis. Can you point me to a picture of this? I plan to buy my first khukuri soon, and I'm thinking that might be a good one to start with, since I'd corresponded with him for several years.

Aside from that particular knife, what would you suggest as a good all-around khukuri to start with. I'm finding the nomenclature of khukuri types and the references to the individual makers to be rather confusing at this point.

Welcome to the cantina!

The JKM-1 is not a khukuri but a puuko unless the experts want to correct this.

I have a few good BAS models which might be a good starter or if you want a very good price get one of the village models.

I'll second Uncle Bill's recommendation of the BAS (British Army Service). It's a very good all around blade, and the one that I carry in my government vehicle daily.
