The EDC thread the other day got me thinking how great the little JKM is, and how much I appreciate having a few of them.

So thank you, Mr. James K. Mattis, Uncle Bill, Kumar & Kesar.

First pic shows the beautiful contrast between purpleheart & raktha chandan handles.

Second one shows Kesar horn, Kumar USA antler, Kumar R/C & Kumar purpleheart. Bura horn Sarge w/feather at bottom right, & Bura horn 10" BDC at top for scale.

The sun glinting off the steel is the best part... Spring is finally coming.

Wow, those are gourgeous. As if I was not drooling bad enough anticipating the BDC I managed to pull out of last weeks feeding frenzy in the shark tank and you have to post such a nice picture of one. Really shows of those double fullers nicely. All very nice blades indeed.

I'm envious but in a good way. The small blades are my special favorites though I love all the HI knives. Maybe some day I'll get a stag handled JKM and Sarge.

Ice :)

Rule .308, did you get a 14" or 10" BDC?

The 14" is a much loved khukuri by many. The 10" pictured I am still getting to know but can affirm it is more knife-like, not having the mass to really chop with. Fullers are awesome- see a tin chuirra, with 3. Also Bura stamped it on the LEFT side, most unusually. It has a tiny & delicate cho, 1/4" of cho creep, which is to say, none.

I believe that mine is the 10" model. I am pretty new to the whole khukuri scene and do not have an avenue to use the larger khuks regularily, but something a little smaller like the BDC or a Penknife I'd be able to put to work more often. I'm sure you know how it is with daily driver's. I've got more firearms than any one guy needs and my favorite one is my air rifle because I can walk out the back door and shoot the darn thing. I'm finding that the larger Khuks are falling into that role pretty quick, there is only so much hacking, chopping, and slashing one guy can do. :D

Beautiful knives, artfully displayed.

I think you need to start a collection of antler-handled work.

Then, one of the chandan handles.

Then.....

etcetera. etcetera, etcetera...

:)

I love the JKM-1. So classy, beautiful, sturdy, everything a knife should be. Yes indeed, thank you kamis and thank you Bill and Yangdu and thank you Nepal.

It's nice to think that though James K. Mattis is gone, he is remembered each time a new JKM arrives. A very respected man, and justly so.

GAWD!
Why do I read these threads???? Now I have an overwhelming urge to get a JKM!

And I thought I had this HIKV thing licked. :(

:D :D

That's not a JKM, that's the MOTHER LODE!!!! :D

Looks like you have just about every flavor. Next you just need to dig up one from every kami. Thanks for the nice pics.

Thanks- Tohatchi NM, Semper Fi, Rusty, Cog, Kis, & All-

Patience pays, and a fast email gets you there.

A JKM really is a pocketknife, defined.
