Thanks to my buddy Pete (Examonlyf), I rekindled my appreciation for Jody Samson's work, and committed to getting one of his pieces earlier, rather than later. He called this one the "Military Khukri". The belly is beautifully deep, and is extremely light in hand. I could easily see this piece in the next fantasy movie. Enjoy.

Spec's: 22" OAL. Blade is 16" of deep hollow ground 5160 steel.

With, what was previously, my two best battle blades, matching Bob Lum Grandmaster Darn Dao's:

Holy Toledo!

That fuller is such an eye magnet. There's no newbie work in there. Congrats, Tony!

Those are some beautiful blades, Tony. The Khukri is outstanding-nice to see a custom maker take on a great traditional design.

Thanks, Jens.

Hey, nice knives. Lemme know when you wanna get rid of that old, rusted up Lum. ;) :)

Gorgeous Tony..., as Coop mentioned that Fuller just yanks ya right of of your seat on most of Jody's work that includes that treatment.

Looks great with Bob's work also, I'm glad to see Jody doing some more time honored profiling lately. That Katana he did recently ROCKS!

Thanks for posting the pictures, really some fantastic steel sculpturing there! :) What a dream it would be if Jody and Bob did something together with Jody's Taoist Runes inscribed somewhere on a lost wax rendering....

We can dream huh.... :)

Here's the evil, and less traditional twin of Tony's "Military Khukri" by Jody. He calls this one the "Hunter Khukri". The pieces are equal in size with the slightly different treatment on the top edge. Both have beautifully hollowed belly areas.

Non-traditional khuks to be sure, but still very beatiful and I'll bet they would put in a hard day's work too! Very nice pics as well, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the complinments. I'm really happy with this piece.

It's gonna be a long wait. Got a plan to figure out how to stop that L6 Darn Dao from pitting... ;)

You never know Pete. Only took me 10 years to get those bali blades... :)

WOW,that is one very impressive piece of steel. That would make a great addition to any collection.Congrats

Jody Samson's work has a lot of personality, as attested by both knives shown in this thread.
He has been making knives for a good while and it is funny that they show up only every now and then.

Wow... I can't say that i'm a big fan of non-traditional Khukuries, but...
those are ground pretty sweetly.
Quite nice blades.
The lums are nice looking as well.

The Military Khukri is excellent! Long ago, that I was so attracted by a knife. More pics please.

YOU SUCK TONY!!!!!!!!!!

........but other than that, get some real good moly grease and rub the blade(s) down with that. I've used it for years and it works wonders. I also use the Ren wax but you have to keep an eye on it.

I keep the humidity down real low so just send 'em on. If they by chance oxidize, I'll just send 'em back!!!!!!!!! :p

Dudley and Danbo: Spoke to Bob and we're gonna scarifice the handles and strip it down to its bare metal parts and ship it over for a nice DLC coating. But first we just gotta find a thick enough piece of micarta/G10/CF that we can use to make new handles with (and finish them up before we ship it out or risk ruining it). Then all I have to watch out for is the edge. Yeah, I'm turing it into a Tactical Darn Dao. ;)

I vote for green canvas micarta. I just love that stuff, and especially as it ages and gets darker.
