I'm a happy guy! On my last visit to George's place, Joe decided he wanted to do some grinding. He had an idea in his head, he also said he was going to grind the blade for me. Cool! So we kinda worked on this one together, though I was fortunate enough to become the owner. Joe did the design, grinding, file work & etch on the blade. I did the heat treating and the handle/lanyard. Joe's name is on one side and mine's on the other. This is a cool little knife.

The knife itself is hollow ground 1084 with a 3 1/8" blade (5 7/8" total length). The blade is etched, has a nice false bevel up top and filework. The handle is spalted gold maple burl (as is the lanyard do-dad) with brass pins. The knife scales are recessed from the tang edges and the lanyard hole.
Thanks again Joe. I'll bring it to the next get together.

It's called a 'thong thingie'.

Really nice J.. Show us what Tess comes up with for it too.

"do-dad" hahahaha.....I was calling it a thing-a-ma-jig...it really makes the knife feel better in the hand..doesn't it J.

Us hippie jewelry types would call that a "bead." :D Nice knife guys! J, why don't you just send that one to me - somehow, and I'm not being critical, just friendly - you missed my birthday. Better wait until Tess does her magic though! he he Thanks for sharing, that's another fine job.

That reminds me Dave, I really am almost done with that 'hawk. I know it's been forever. I turned a handle last night and I just gotta figure out my handle wrap. What's this been, a year now?

J. It's called a "Fob"
Watch "fobs were big in the pocket watch days, they are still collectible. Elks teeth were a favorite.

I like em on my pocketknives, I prefer them to pocket clips.

Great work, J!

Can you elaborate on the finish? Now you've got me checking to see how many miles away Wyalusing is...

Rene - how come you got all the great ideas?!?

Which finish Dan, the blade or handle? Drop me a PM and I'll tell you all I can. Wyalusing ain't too far. I've gone down to MD to visit Keith Bagley a couple times. You'd be more than welcome to come up.

the blade...looks to be very smooth...as in, not irregular/patterned/etc.

PM sent.

:D
