First off - Caleb thanks for the fantastic photo!

First piece I've done that I felt actually warranted a professional photo and Caleb nailed it!

This piece was one of the hardest pieces I've worked on mainly due to the request of the razor being a full hollow grind. Thinnest razor I've ever ground and after all the work in the spine it was holding breath time for the final grind. I'll dig up a photo of the thinness from the end to show the actually grind on this one.

Very cool razor Joe.
and Caleb, the photo looks great as usual.

Thanks Mark!

Hi!

What a tasty razor! Joe, we need to talk soon! :)

Best,
Alex

Thanks Alex - feel free to hit me up any time!

I think I'd probably cut myself because I couldn't take my eyes off that razor in the mirror. A very special piece.

Really a cool razor Joe! The detail work is excellent and everything looks really well finished.

Hope you don't me saying, but if I were to change one thing, the double plunge cut is just a tad bit distracting to my eye. Looking over the whole piece, my eye keeps stopping abruptly right there. But it looks very well done and intentional, so it's just a preference thing.

Really love the colors, the rose gold is a nice touch. You're advancing your skills very quickly. Nice work.

Hi John -

The double plunge is intentional and done as a throwback to how vintage full hollow grind razors where made. If you look at almost any vintage full hollow grind razor from the past 100 years you will more likely than not see the double plunge cut. This is likely done from how razors are ground commercially using a double wheel grinder and somehow the setup to make the extra hollow grinds gives this double plunge (not sure of the reason but almost every razor of this grind has this look).

Just my way of putting modern flair on a razor while using the traditional grinding looks as a throwback to vintage pieces.

Cheers!
Joe

Ahh....didn't know that Joe. I'd never looked that close at old ones. It makes perfect sense now though.

Fantastic work again.
