Joe Flournoy Drop Point
Acquired this in a recent trade and decided to send to Joe for a refurb. Just got it back and it looks beautiful! The photo does not show it but a temper line is clearly visible to the eye and really adds to the aesthetic appearance.
Specs:
Metallurgy: 01 Tool Steel
Blade Length: 4.0
OAL: 8.0
Handle: Polished Stag
File Work: Rope Pattern, from the ricasso to the butt
Joe tells me this is one-of-a-kind filework for him. I initially thought that because the file work is raised, it would be uncomfortable to use. I could not have been more wrong. Not only does the file work disappear into my palm, it really enhances the grip. I can hold the knife in a variety of ways using the file work to securely hold the knife. Made in 1988, before Joe acquired his Mastersmith certification this knife is a great example of his talent. It is not flashy but stunning in its simplicity.
