Anyone seen or have one of these? Weird knife and id expect it to be condors 8/10 quality, but I am oddly into this knife haha. Plus I’m a sucker for Joe Flowers fixed blades

I was sort of interested, but it's a little big for my needs. The Krakatoa is supposed to be a bushcraft folder, I guess?

At any rate, a Condor folder for 100-ish USD is pretty good. No frills, no nonsense, just cutting activity.

Not a lot of "bushies" here in General Knife: you could be the one to test it out and let us know how it is. With pictures. We like pictures.

I have bushcraft knives… like a lot from cheap condors to nice bark rivers and lt wrights, i just think its a cool approach to a folder. Looks like weathered in, and beat up it would be and could be an awesome knife. I have my adventure sworn explorer, bark river gunny, and lt wright gns for actual bushcraft needs, just a toy for strolls in the woods i think I’ll pick it up

The blade on mine rubs against the scale and I can't get it to center at all. I should have sent it back.

Otherwise, it is decent, but I wish it had micarta on both sides.

I’m interested in a similar knife - the Wendigo folder.

I’m not really in love with the aesthetics of the knife honestly - the Krakatoa is more visually appealing. I watched a video recently though where Mr. Flowers talks about the Wendigo and the apparent size, ergonomics, grind and steel choice makes it extremely interesting. This is their newest folder folder and seems to incorporate some improvements over the Krakatoa. Will probably be my next folder but I’ll probably only carry it outdoors.

Should do a much better job on wood than my EDCs… :)

Hey so weird question - the video in question happens to be an interview at the 2022 Shot Show, where a guy from Knifecenter interviews Joe Flowers.

I don’t believe Knifecenter is affiliated with this forum (correct??), and as such I shouldn’t link to them, but I’m wondering if this also applies to a YouTube video just discussing knives…

Ok to link to or better not and let folks search for it if they want?

That lock design looks top notch.
Notice how the front of the bar is placed as far away from the pivot as possible, excellent leverages for the lock (assuming the blade tang extends to match the full width of the handle). I hate it when people design a framelock/linerlock with the contact patch only 1/4" from the pivot (and often well below parallel as well).
After all that if they get the ramp angles right this should be one of the best Framelocks out there.

Ok nevermind.
Now that I've looked up the knife it appears the blade tang only engages half of the lock bar (spine to edge direction).
So close yet so far.

This is one of the things the Strider SNG/SMF actually gets very right, if only someone would just copy it in a cheaper knife.

Ya everything i have ever owned from condor i could build better with a ballpeen hammer and a blow torch, i dont expect much anymore, the issue is somehow i find most of their lineup charming and all the knives have personality. There are plenty of companies with awful QC like benchmade for example but they arnt charming i cant explain it

I like the idea of that Wendigo but it is not a looker thats for sure. Frankly for a woods folder the cold steel finn wolf will probably remain king but id like to find another alternative. Its a knife i have no need for but weirdly want.

afaic - the concept of a 'woods folder' is silly... just get a fixed blade, or get out of the woods ; )

I always carry a folder in the woods - just like everywhere else.

I ALSO tend to have at least one fixed blade, but I like the idea of a folder that’s more suited to carving wood.

Even if you don't give it much credit as a woodsie knife, the Krakatoa makes a case for itself as the knife you carry for the "let me borrow your knife" guy.

I have a finn wolf bought it when it came out, honestly its a solid knife not exactly a carver though
