I'm hoping to tap into Joe and Larry's expertise and identify this ebay find. There's a 1 line tang stamp on the left. There are 4 leather and 4 aluminum spacers. Handle is black wood that I'm guessing is ebony. Looks like a pin through pommel, not a barrel-nut. Is it a Group Ten?
How do I keep the leather spacers from deteriorating more?

This knife is pre-factory production, circa 1956 - 1961 and you are correct on the Group ten category. I would use a bit of Armorall on the leather.

Neat old knife, Scott. How did that one sneak past all us bay watchers. You get it sometime ago? Preston

Dufus here was watching that auction and forgot about it during the last hour. The funny thing is, I only thought I was going to get a bargain on a barrel nut. I had no idea it was an ebony knife from pre 1961!
Rats!!!
At least i know it went to a good home.
You did good man!

You know Scott, that looks a lot like the knife my father gave me for Christmas one year for camping. It was lost to history not long after I left home for the Navy, but it was my first Buck knife and I wish I still had it. :(
