Has anyone here had experince with his knives? I met him at a show a while back and he seems like a gentleman. His work looks good and I'm considering getting one of his efforts in the future.

I'm also interested in the quality of his work. The pieces I've seen in mag's and on-line look pretty interesting.

I ran into Joel several years ago. I've heard his work has improved since then, but even back then his work was incredibly good. And a real bargain -- I bought a little gents' liner lock from him, incredibly good workmanship all the way through, proper edge geometry, *excellent* knife, for ~$200!

I'm pretty sure his prices have gone up since then, but his current prices are still reasonable, and his work better than many who charge the same amount.

My little Chamblin gents' knife easily passes the liner lock tests -- the same tests that many overbuilt tactical folders fail.

Joel's work is among the best in the world. No matter what he makes it is first rate. I have known Joel for 6 years and the quality of his work has improved every year.

We have used Joel in two of the LDC Series and I buy both tactical and Damascus folders from him. I will be receiving his first Damascus Auto in January.

I highly recommend Joel to anyone, but be prepared to wait a year! His prices are more than fair. His knives are still a bargain!

I've owned two of Joel's knives, his small wharncliffe blade tactical, and a Delta tactical folder. The wharncliffe in particular is a much more stylish knife than anything else out there I've seen in the tactical genre, and the new ones with the gold anodized bolsters that AZCK is carrying are even more unique.
Fit and finish is up there with a much more expensive gent's folder, and I don't know anyone else that takes the time to dovetail fit the bolsters and G-10 scales, and radius and 'dehorn' the handle so that there are no sharp corners in the grip area. His treatment on the titanium bolsters is also something different....a kind of bead blasted and then polished finish that is much more scuff resistant than what I'm used to. I've carried the wharncliffe daily for over a year
with very little sign of any use.
The blade opens slick and locks solid with no movement at all, period, even if you put pressure on the spine of the blade. The lock is serrated for a good purchase, and the liner on the opposit side is relieved to make it easier to get at the flush mount lock.

My only complaint is that friends have liked the two I've had so much that I traded the Delta off, and have someone lusting after the Wharncliffe.

Joel is one of the finest people and makes some of the finest knives out there bar none.
You will enjoy working with him.
