Here is the second colabaration between J Neilson and I. This is something a little different for me. For a while I had been thinking on how to do a center seam sheath, and when J sent me a spear point knife, I had to give it a try. It was'nt easy, but it turned out really well I think!
The sheath is veg-tan covered in deer rawhide with deer skin fringe, deer antler crown.brass spots, antique trade beads, snake veratbrae, tin cones, horsehair, and snake skin inlayed in the belt loop.

Really very nicely done John, and it goes with the spear point knife well. I must admit, however, that my personal taste runs more to your excellent side seam examples.

Paul

Thanks Paul. I like the side seams a lot too, but I had wanted to try this for a while just to see if I could pull it off. However, due to ths difficulty I had to get this thing right, you won't be seeing very many of this style!

Another great sheath and knife too. I did a center seam along the back of a sheath once and I'm really impressed with how clean you got the tip. Mine tended to bunch up a bit and looked a little less clean.

I was using sheepskin so maybe that made a difference. How did you deal with it?
It looks like you actually stretched it around the tip .

Thanks guys.Scott I did stretch it around the tip, and then bunched the skin up into the seam.If you want to know the truth, I probably just got lucky!

I know I am, yet again, very please with what John has pulled off here. Looking forward to #3.

Great work on all.................What do you use the snake veratbrae for ?

Thanks Dusty. To answer your question the snake vertabrae are just another type of authentic beads that I use, although they are probably slightly newer than the mid 1800s glass trade beads that are used on my sheaths.

John, the collaboration between you and J. is outstanding on both of your parts. I hope to see more from the two of you!!! ---Sandy---

Thanks guys. Sandy I think J and I will be doing these collabarations for quite a while, so you will be seeing more for sure!
