Greetings all,
A few months ago I received a spectacular war hawk and stand from Frontier-style maker John Cohea:

If you missed that earlier thread, you may have caught Coop's pic in the September issue of Blade.
My only regret when I got the hawk was that I did not order a matching knife at the same time. Well, at least that's the kind of mistake that can be easily rectified and John was happy to oblige.
I wanted a large, stout piece - but one that didn't feel overly massive and heavy - with mmaterials and decorations to match the hawk.
John delivered - and thanks to Buddy Thomason, we can all enjoy a good look at the result:
The stout spear point blade is 8" long and a shade less than 2" wide. Overall length is 13". Handle is a beautiful piece of maple with copper collar. And as with all fo John's pieces - the decorated sheath is a work of art unto itself - with crown stag buttont to match the head cover of the hawk.
I had asked John to make certain he put wicked edge on this knife even though it was going to be a display piece, and that he did - it's scary sharp. I have no doubt it would serve immensely well in its intended all-purpose role. But it's actual role will be to sit on that cool stand beside the matching hawk, looking great.
Thanks John - it was a pleasure working with you on this.
Next, we need to talk about a matching war club.
Roger
