Hello all, new member here looking for some info.
I recently had an opportunity to buy a "John Ek Commando" knife, model 3m, from its original owner. The owner stated he bought it in 1985, and it was brand new in box. The box is marked "3m" for "model" and sheath type is marked "BL". It was produced in VA.
I'm having trouble find any info about the knife I own. I understand John Ek made knifes starting in 1941, and the company has changed hands several times.
My knife is the Model 3, with the miacarta handle, with a nice black leather sheath. It came in a black box marked wrapped in wax paper.
What would approximate value be in the current market? (insurance purposes)
This is the only picture I can find of what mine looks like, although this is a model 4, mine is a model 3.
