GRECO FLAT GROUNDS AVAILABLE NOW!!!

Run, don't walk to www.cqcknives.com.

The new Greco flat-ground, satin-finish knives are in! They have a Companion (which has a profile more like the 'old' style), an MST MkIV, and the Whisper Clip Tip Fighter (this is one of the models favorably reviewed by Jerry VanCook in the Nov. TK). They look absolutely great, and as another plus John has knocked them down from .210" to .200" stock (hey-not much but it's a start).

Oh, here's the best part:

They are only $50 each!!!!!!!!!!!

Get them while they are hot ladies and gentlemen. I was told that this initial shipment was for 25 of each model.

Also: They have the old style Greco Scapel available, as well as two really cool looking 'friction folders' that John was showing some folks at blade I believe.

Well, guess it is time to go spend some cash!

Damn it you guys..... I've been taunted and I've contact them to arrange shipping to Canada :p

Will'em,
My friction folder just came in the mail today. My first impression is that this thing is heavy. I don't have a scale in front of me but I'd guess that it weighs about 4 ounces or so, IMO too heavy for deep pocket carry. The action is very smooth and the blade is very sharp. I think that I will try to find a sheath for this little guy and keep it as my heavy duty work knife. Although it doesn't have a lock, it should stand up to some abuse.

I just received a flat ground Whisper. IMHO, the knife is best described as a sharpened pry-bar. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Some folks really like "robust" blades that won't break under the most difficult circumstances (ala Strider). I think this design would be better off using 3/16", 5/32", or even 1/8" blade stock. Would make for a better cutter. The workmanship is good for the price - I would have preferred that the some areas had been rounded for more comfort. If you want a stout blade at a yeoman price this is it.

I just recieved my flat (sabre?) grind MST MK IV. I am very pleased. Nicely made, nice lines. The edge on this example is acceptably thin. No - not like a Marbles but nothing like the edge on some Busse knives either. Really nice design for the leather sheath on this model. Thanks to CQC knives and Mr. Greco for such a friendly deal. I still regret not taking advantage of the last big sale. I'm glad I didn't miss this one. Nice also, is the immediate delivery unlike some small shops I can think of.:D

I held John's knives at a show last week and each is well-designed for a specific purpose. The whisper is a very cool fighter, feels great in the hand, excellent value for the $50! I went with a MST MK IV, some of the finishing is rough (like inside the lanyard holes) but who cares, this thing is a great beater for the price. I just wish it weren't so handle-heavy, eventually I'm going to have to remove the scales and drill out some of the tang, then it will be much quicker in the hand (yet still a small tank).

How is that lacquer finish? How durable is it compared to the black coating or the crib safe? Can I order one of the knives with the crib safe?

Burton

lacquer finish is not as good as the UV powdercoat acourding to the site so i guess It varries acourding to what you use the knife for...

Loki:
I've contacted CQC about why my MST doesn't seem to be very sharp. Dave Bata have given me this reply...
I just got off of the phone with John and explained that some of the knives
that we have aren't sharp enough. He explained the reason for it (flat grind
need to be sharpened differently than hollow grinds) and said that he will
re-sharpen any knife that is sent back at no charge. I am sorry about the
knife not being sharp, so if you would like your knife sharpened all you have
to do is send it to John and he will take care of it. His address is:

I think what we've got may be some of them that happened to be not sharpened well.
