John Howser knives

Sorry to hear of John's passing. He was a fine maker and a gentleman. I always enjoyed stopping by his table at the Blade Show and sending customers his way.

I'm very sorry to hear about John's passing. I didn't know him but have heard the good words, and have always admired his work. My condolences to his family and friends.
Thanks for showing off some of his knives.

My first custom folder was a Howser, won off of the forum here. I wasn't able to properly appreciate its features, so it moved on, but it was a very nice knife to start my appreciation for custom folders. An unfortunate event for the knife community.

Sad to hear this. John was a true gentleman and a very fine maker. Condolences to his family and friends.

Never had the pleasure of meeting him, or owning one of his knives, but have heard his friends only speak well of him over the years.
Sorry to have missed him.

Really sorry to hear this, John was a good guy and a good knife maker, I always enjoyed talking with him. He will be missed.

John was a fine fellow and quality maker. I have had the pleasure of owning a number of his knives. Both direct and otherwise. Probably John's greatest contribution to traditionalist's was that he provided very high quality at a price point we could all afford. Just Thursday night at my collectors club I picked up an unusual one. No one there mentioned it so I assume it was somewhat sudden as many in my club knew John. He had been battling the dreaded C word. I am mobile so pics are difficult to impossible for me right now but I will post a few up when I return home.

We are diminished.

Yes, John was a fine individual in everyway and a remarkable craftsman. I had the pleasure of getting to know John the past several years and riding to The Blade Show along with him and Billy Baker. Staying at the same motel and eating dinner after the show each evening. These are memories I'll never forget and I for one will miss John greatly. My wife nailed it on the head the other day when she said, "The Blade Show for us is just not going to be the same anymore." RIP my friend.

Brad:
That gunstock wharncliffe is unusual. What did he call that? Seeing that ivory LC I can see why you sold the stag one that I bought from you. He did make some quality pieces.

Charles, I don't have a clue as to what John called that pattern but I have never seen a Wharncliffe in a Gunstocks frame. John did play around with patterns a bit. You are correct about the LC, it is a dandy for sure! The pictures are not very good but that ivory is nice and creamy!

That gunstock is spectacular! John was a true artist!! He sure did it his way. Thanks for sharing his art with us, Brad.

Thank you, John!!

I enjoyed meeting and talking to John at Blade. Here is my only knife from him which I acquired from Vince (VCM3) some years ago.
