Vince that is sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!
I like everything about it:thumbup:
Good score mate.

Very nice Vince. I love the color and jigging. Congrats.....

Saw one of those at the show, Vince. I was real tempted by it but John (in getting ready for the show, I'm guessing) forgot to put the final edge on it. :p

Worked out fine though as I'm very happy with its sibling in a slightly larger slipjoint. The German bone is great and after a little touch-up, the knife is wicked sharp.

Great looking knife!

Elliott & All,that was the knife there.I think the no edge, helped getr it to me :D He put an edge on it of course
BTW Elliott, this bone was jigged & dyed by John.I think he's running low on the German stuff. It came out sweet

The sun was strong today after a big spell of rain,I tried taking pictures a few times throughout the day. These here,on different backgrounds, were the best of the bunch. In the process,I put a small scratch on the shield  I've said this before,I look at my custom knives & get "user" marks on them. It's good luck

Last I spoke with John,he's feeling better

Glad you got it, Vince. Mine has a couple character marks already as well. (And it's in my pocket as we speak.)

Great knife and I'm only sorry that John wasn't at the show but I did enjoy chatting with him briefly on the phone.

Here's my slightly bigger brother to Vince's new knife:

seeing a knife like this keeps me from getting a spyderco. i know the spyderco is a good knife , but...... paul

Some beautiful knives Vince and Elliott! Mr Howser does an excellent job with the jigging and color on the bone.

Vince is pretty lucky imho to have gotten that little beauty. I brought a handful of folks over to John's table to have them look at his knives.

Luciano, you should have seen the sowbelly! (I'm just sayin'...;))

I have been buying slipjoints from John Howser
for many years. Bang for the buck you can't beat
with John. I have four or five of his knives and I
am about to order another. The last knife he made
for me he handled in 1930's old Remington bone, the
last piece he had, and it is beautiful. I can tell you
that you will be very happy with one of John's knives.

Hi Ralph, Would it be possible for you to post photos of your latest knife from John?
Thanks,

Great knives Vince & Elliott... Congrats.......

I really like the way he cut the swedge into the pull on your knife Vince......

I wish I could. I would not know how to post pictures.
Usually I photograph them and have prints made. I
really need to photograph them again as I can not
find the pictures I shot last year.

So I ask,anyone..... When a custom knifemaker does a blade like this,is it planned ahead ?,or just the way it worked out ? It certainly has a unique look,is there a reason in the mechanics of the knife ? I hear knifemakers saying the swedge is one of the harder steps in grinding on the blade/completing the knife, this detail,to me,looks as if it would be harder to do.
I'd like to hear from anyone who knows,Thanks in advance,
-Vince
