We lost a great man John McAleese, who died on August 26 aged 61, led the SAS team that ended the Iranian embassy siege in central London in 1980, an event

Here is a video of the man, so you can get to know a little bit about him. He put a few of us trough one hell of a week of training. I had a few beers with the man a few years ago, one of the greates.

The part in the video of how he screamed at Margret Thatcher to get her head out of the way is classic John.

The Soldiering World lost a true leader...

During the interview I had wished he would have replied when asked, "Did you feel anything when you shot him"........yeah, recoil......

As George Orwell pointed out: "Men sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

Mac was one of those men.
