John Paul II

sad way to go- seemed to have suffered needlessly.

RIP leader of the Catholic Church.

next will be "who's next"...

wait for the signal.

John Paul II was a force for freedom at a pivotal point in world history. No John Paul II = no Solidarity = no domino effect that ended Communism. RIP JP II.

John Paul 2 was the almost absoloute first pontiff to reach out and really
embrace judaisim and say it was okay to be a jew calling jews the elders
in the faith. Mucho Kudos to le Polska "popa".
This pope was a fighter and a pilgrim and a healer who took his office and
ran with it. BTW in IMHO the next "pope" wil be the bishop of Milan.

A man of God whose early life was marked by personal tragedies. No stranger to pain and suffering up till his last day on earth, Pope John Paul II showed Catholics the world over how it was to pass away with dignity and in dignity.

He has touched the hearts of youths everywhere he went and reminded us that our lives is a quest to know the Almighty better and live it the greatest way we know how.

In the end, love is the greatest lesson of them all. And we have learnt it, his journey on earth would have been worth every second of it.

A life born in obscurity, lived in humility, has now touched the folds of divinity.

To qoute you seems redundant. Don't forget his meeting with Acga the man
who shot him and tried to assainiate him, even after all that, the pope
met him in his cell and forgave him. This guy was good,

I am not Catholic. Actually I had a few bad experiences coming out of the Catholic church (women can't read the bible, no last rites without money...) Anyhow, for many years I was turned off by the very idea of the Catholic church. I've since learned that it was a few individuals who ruined the church's image for me. I've also learned that there are a lot of gifted and reverent Catholics, believers, who are wonderful role models to all. There are many such people. Pope John Paul II was certainly one such man.

In listening to the stories about this Pope, I am most impressed by the impact that he had on so many. As one example, yesterday there was a gentleman on television who said that he never even considered becoming a priest until he attended a service where the Pope reached out to him through his words. Apparently, after that there was nothing left for this man to do but to become a servant of God. That is truly touching and amazing. It makes me wonder just how many people God was able to reach out to through this wonderful spirit, Pope John Paul II.

Someone mentioned yesterday that the Pope was probably in conversation with God right then. What a lovely thought. I cherish such an idea.

I think he showed that to people of ALL faiths. He was certainly the most 'approachable' of all popes.

RIP

He was a man who made many both joyous and angry. That is how you define his greatness. Until the last few days, I never realized his tremendous role in bringing down the Iron Curtain. RIP, John Paul The Great.

There were probably several people who witnessed his birth, unknowing that several billion people would know of his life and death, 85 yrs later.

R.I.P JP2

I'm not Catholic nor particularly religious. But it shows the influence of a person when he can connect even with people like me. It's not hard to recognize his influence on the world. That he really did represent his faith perfectly because he reached out to everyone, excluded nobody, was consistent and held firm to his beliefs and convictions. I didn't necessarily agree with everything he said, but man did I respect him. I respected him for the example he set, his kindness, his humility, his perseverance through personal trajedy and physical pain and his extreme strength of character through all of it. Yes, I too am saddened at his passing.
