That's what JP calls it; "That little art bowie I made." This knife won the BR Hughes award a couple of years ago; a prestigious ABS award given annually at the BLADE Show for the best mastersmith test knife.

A lot of folks have seen it. Point Seven photographed it, and I think Chuck Ward did too. Plus John has displayed it at shows (most recently in Reno). We danced around about it from the very beginning and I finally talked him out of it, but not without first giving a solemn oath: Should I ever decide to sell it, John and his family have absolute first right of refusal. He declared that his wife (Carrie - lovely person) "says it's the best knife I've ever made." If you've ever seen John's knives you know that would be a tough call! They're all great.

This is the first of what I'm sure will be repeated attempts by me to digitaly capture the essence of John's "Little Art Bowie." I'll post the specs asap.

Lovely piece. The stag is great and I really like the little "windows" he's created to show the damascus.

I was fortunate to be able to handle this piece - it's great to see it again. So rich in detail and so flawless in execution.

Sweeeeet. I like this one, especially the "habaki" and the carved windows. How is this damascus called? It looks a bit like "snowflakes" (a crystaline structure).:cool:

WOW!!!! I didn't know that he hadn't sold that one. How do you pick what is John's "best" work? I guess we have to take the word of his boss, right?:D

Buddy, you score the best blades quite often. When are you opening your new museum? I can't wait to attend the grand opening. That one deserves a trip to the Sonoran Desert methinks. The pommel is simply "G"-orgeous. See ya soon I hope. kevin

Yep a beauty.
Lot's of different design elements going on here but excellently executed so it's not "too busy".
