Can anyone point me to where I might download the kukri articles that Mr. Powell put together? The link on HI's page is dead. If someone has them saved and could email them to me, that would also be appreciated. PM me for my address.

The best way would be to ask John himself for them, as they are likely his copyrighted material.

Oh. I hadn't thought of that. How would I contact him regarding those? I'm relatively new to the kukri scene and haven't figured out how to contact all the big players like I have with tomahawks.

Way at the bottom of the FAQ intro page, there is a list of old pages not yet integrated. Among them are 7 pages of John's collection, and also some of his writing on military khukuris.

John was pleased to learn that folks are still interested in his old writings, and asked me to pass along a message:
I consider that early research incomplete. Up until I got sick and had to stop there were lots of research materials and sources I just never got to.
I hope that old work is helpful, and even better if it inspires someone else to continue study of these amazing weapons and the Gurkhas that used them.
He also sent along one of his famous photos, “ one of best I ever had the privilege to own and research”.

Fascinating! I could spend hours looking at that picture and still not find each little detail. It so makes me wish for an unlimited budget...of time and money. Or limited but VERY large :D So many historic blades, I would love to learn the entire back story of each one. And as Bawanna would say, fondle it regularly, while thinking on it. ;)

Well you can tell him that we greatly appreciate the work he did and then graciously made available for others for free. And thank you for letting him know in the first place.

That blade is awesome!

Wow! That's absolutely amazing and I dig the pictures and the elephant pin/buckle whatever that is too. Very very cool.

This is the stuff I love. I prefer the traditional type kukris and John info is priceless. I cant wait to read it in its entirety.

Me, I'm not greedy at all. I just want one. The very first one.

Berkley,

Thanks for posting John's thoughts. It is a shame he was unable to finished his book, it would have been long treasured by khukuri collectors everywhere.

Thanks for posting that link Steve.

I know who John Powell is, but I'd never read what he'd put together on the topic. Cheers
