That's a great one Russell! Don't recall seeing a Primble "OT" before!! Must not be many around??

Correct Charlie, there are not too many around.. Does anyone have some pictures of those, besides Russell? In the Old Timer line there are the 933, 934, and 935, which are the 108OT, 58OT, and 8OT. I looked in archives, and found evidence of a 34OT Primble too.

I believe they made some Uncle Henry Primbles in Staglon too, and thought once I saw an 897UH and even one in a 3 1/4" length. They were on Ebay NIB and went pretty high.

Anyone have a list of the Primbles that came with saw cut or staglon scales?

Belknap sold many Schrade Walden, Schrade, Ulster and Imperial patterns for many years. Some were rebadged, some not. Quite some time ago, a few of us bought the old editions of the Belknap catalogs in order to try to list the knives made for them by the ISC companies. That effort petered out. Perhaps lrv (Larry) or Dale (Orvet) archived some of that early effort. I only have the 1961 edition here (4,500 pages  ). They are huge, heavy to ship and issued each year, more expensive to acquire than say, the Sears catalogs (which are still not cheap at two issues per year). Also of note, Belknap was notoriously behind the times with their ad cuts. For instance, the 1961 ad for the Schrade Walden 8OT stated :
Genuine Bone Stag
Redwood Hinged Box.

The 1974 catalog still used the older Schrade Walden name and illustrated patterns discontinued by then.

Thanks Michael. I kind of thought the information about Schrade made Primbles was hard to find. You confirmed that. There was one time a guy sold three Primbles in one night, all NIB, and two were Uncle Henry like, with papaerwork. As many knives I've bought, those were two I wish I would have just shot the moon and bought.

Boy, fate sure plays some strange games on us knife folk. I just bought (on ebay) a SchradeUSA/Primble/OT (80T) with the regular OLD TIMER shield. Got it in the mail today. Up to this point, I never knew SchradeUSA made knives for Primble, and when I signed on to ask about it, here's a thread on them.

Main blade, mark side tang reads:

JOHN PRIMBLE
BELKNAP
HDW. & MFG. CO.

pile side tang reads:

935

Alas, while it's exciting to get something new, this one was a bit of a disappointment in that it's been cleaned, stoned, and buffed to the point that it probably has no collector value. It looks good until you open it up, then it's obvious someone's worked it over. The blades are still in very usable shape, and I bought it ($19.) with the assumption that if it's not a "safe queen", then I have a carbon steel user so I can retire my old well-used 80T.

I'll post pics when I can borrow a good digital camera.

thx - cpr
