I'll get the first batch out tomorow from my 'private stock".

Drop me a line and let me know what your favorites are because I'm reordering this week and I'll get some more out to you.

I don't know If I'd want to eat military food without hot sauce.

I could ask about the availability of toilet paper, I'm sure military has lots of that. There is a effect with the post 40 year old crowd and hot sauces...and Oh well...enough of that. Probably only the officers are that old...

Woohoo!

Actually, El Yucateco Green and Marie Sharp's Hot or Fiery Hot Habanero sauces are my favorite.

Fortunately, we have plenty of TP. :)

Thanks, munk.

That El Yucateco green has a lot of heat for a sauce you can often find in the grocery store.

One I've found recently that I like quite a bit is Bulliard's habanero sauce. Great stuff, wonderful flavor, and I'm not generally a huge fan of the flavor of habs. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it again. I've seen several other Bulliard sauces, but not the habanero. Definitely worth a try if you ever see it though.

I was looking at hot sauces from online stores earlier today, actually. The odd (sad?) thing is, both Marie Sharp's and El Yucateco are much cheaper at Wal Mart than any of the online stores I saw! Unfortunately, I didn't see it at W-M's online store. :(

We just had Texas Pete here, and that ran out a day or two ago...

You can't find Maries or El Yucateco here. You can find some Rooster brand, and the usual array of Tabasco type stuff.

So I'm sending you my last unopened bottle of Green, and two Rooster squeeze bottles.

I need to order new Green and Marie's. Since I tried it, I love it. Kinda funny it snuck up on green as my favorite.
Anyway, I'll get the next load going out soon; the box from home is wrapped and ready to go monday.

Mexgrocer.com

El Yucateco for 2.75 a bottle. This is better than the 4.00 I saw elswhere.
Shipping for my order was 10 bucks.

I got enough for both of us, John, even some El Yucateco kinds I never saw before, like Caribean Habanero and some Chilipote.

I used to get this stuff for a 1.50 in Hemet or San Bernardino, Ca. Don't know what it costs there today. Used to be able to buy a dozen tamales for 7 bucks, too.... I went into a Restaurant in Utah and they wanted 7 bucks for one tamalee...

It wasn't steep, John, just the price of being a food lover. I got some 8 ounce bottles that were 4 bucks.

You're going to get a little cache.
If you don't like the Rooster sauce that much, keep the other staff on that while you sprinkle the good stuff.

I can't wait; Chilipote and Carribean habanero from El Yucateco?? That's gotta be good. For your use more than mine, I also ordered some of that extra hot. I finally like mine...but that's probably because its 18 months old and some of the heat is gone...ever noticed oxidation takes the heat away?

I'm wondering if the Carribean stuff is kind of like Marie Sharps. I really like that, John, though it took me awhile to get used to it.

Still love hot sauce. No longer want to eat habaneros or Jalapenos raw, though.

Today I found some seeds from my old Habanero plants. Gonna try to grow them.

I've tried the Chipotle. It's sweet, and not very hot. Good flavor, though- almost more like a Barbecue sauce.

I've never heard of a hot chilipote...but I'm no expert. It is just flavorful.

You know, I've had a lot of hobbies over the years. It occurs to me there are still many hot or barbecue sauces I've not tried, and various food treatments. That's a shame. I think I'll look around for some.

A friend of mine in LA has a wonderful wife with a wonderful name- Esperanza. Isn't that great? It's been so long since I pigged out on tamales I'm thinking a trip to So Cal is in order just to beg her to make them. She reportedly makes the best- but you have to negotiate- plead, and demand grace from Heaven as it is a very labor intensive effort.

I like different hot sauces, but the the drag races to the most heat leave me in the stands bored. I like flavor. A certain level of heat is enough. El Yucateco green, Marie Sharps; these are fine. Some of the 'custom designer' hot sauces, geared towards the yuppie party market, not only don't taste that great to me, ( think rancid garlic breath with vinegar) but are ridiculously hot.

I've a long way to go to understanding rubs on meat roasts and different regional approaches. I ordered this Yucateco red stuff that is a meat maranade/flavor base; I forget what it's called. It's common to Mexican food but alien to me. I know so little, and I've eaten standard Mexican all my life. This is from the Yucan area and is different from the more common mexian regional flavors we see here in the States.
