I got around to fixing up this terrific Ivory Sheffield pen today, and it turned out great! The blades both needed some reshaping and it needed cleaned and honed. I had just sharpened the blades and was cleaning some stray oil and slipped...

It had been bleeding like a son of a gun for a solid 10 minutes, and then my wife noticed it when I took a picture.
She wanted to take me to the hospital, of course, but I convinced her that I could stop it with glue. It eventually worked, but the glue does burn some!

Here is the offending blade. It was a pen at one point, but had been broken so it became a coping. I don't like the way it thanked me for the hard work!!

At least we know its sharp :D Nice knife! I hope for a speedy recovery for you.

Thats quite a pretty ivory color, have you got more pictures of that knife? I bought a Camillus serpentine jack last weekend that bit me not once but twice while I was working on it. Quite a pain in the butt to have sliced fingers, I had to glue one up too.

Ouch! I've had one or two like that, kind of makes you think when you get cut by a mucky old blade (I always keep my Tetanus up to date too)!

Look forward to seeing more of that one Ernie, the covers remind me of a Brookes & Crookes I have

Edit - Brookes & Crookes One-Blade Whittler :(

(Forgot it had a bar shield! ;) )

That one looks like a twin! I am widening my collection of Sheffield knives, I find them to have great thin grinds and nice finish:thumbup:
Here are some more (poor but the best I could do) pictures:

Great to see some more pics Ernie, I didn''t actually realise your Sleeveboard had a bar shield! Mine was actually a Whittler, but unfortunately some idiot managed to snap the two smaller blades :( Great-looking knife my friend

I have this Joseph Rodgers whittler that is now a single blade jack. It came to me with one broken blade, and I decided to go ahead and just make it a single blade knife with a nice easy open notch (where the access to the secondary blades used to be) instead of trying to get the blade replaced. This one has terrific checked ebony covers!

Beautiful Rodgers Ernie, I love the chequered ebony
