Any opinions on John Smith knives, particularly the F-5? I am looking for a nice EDC to replace a Sebenza that was stolen.

I can't tell you anything about the F-5, but I've owned 2 knives made by John W. Smith and they are amongst the best I've handled for fit, finish, lockup, blade center and were a pleasure to hold. It's ironic that I never had the heart to use one.

Here is what I said on your other thread in Custom Knives.

According to Les Robertson, John Smith is one of the top 3 folder makers in the game. I had a chance to own a couple of his and they are fantastic in all ways. He makes a lot of Art Knives and brings that same level of fit and finish over to the tactical style folders he makes. Can't go wrong with this maker!

I had an F-4 and it was among the best folders that I have ever owned. The fit and finish was some of the best that I have handled. I ended up getting rid of the knife because I wasn't really liking the pointy blade.

The F-5 I think would be much more to my liking with the recurve blade
