Many may think him out-dated but the Duke will always retain top billing from me.

His films continue to give me pleasure and excitement despite the number of times I may have watched them.

Ride on Duke!

555 Thanks for the tribute to the Duke. I cannot believe it’s been 30 years still watching his movies at home nearly every week. Break out the Winchesters.

I grew up with the Duke, My heros have always been cowboys, just to quote Willie. Man 30 yrs ago I was 4. The mold was broken sometime in the 50's to guys like him.

 The "DUKE" was IMHO one of the best at his craft!! He was/is my HERO, can remember Friday and or Saturday night late shows w/ my Grandpa as a youngster growing up and even into my late teens;)!!!

TheyDon't" make em like him anymore:mad:!!

If he was in it I've seen it.:D

I often think of my dad as a John Wayne type. I still plan on making my kids 11 to 12 yrs. old sit down with me and watch John Wayne and the Cowboys. That is a great rite of passage for young boys to start to man up. In fact, I gotta hunt down that CD and sit down with the kids, and stop my hemmin and hawin. Bruce Dern did a great job in that movie playing a whacko villain.

Gene Hackman can do it, people don't notice as often since he has a wider acting range and plays the villain on occasion.
