John, I just wanted to thank you on the forum
for the beautiful wooden folder you made for my son. When he got the UPS package, he was on cloud nine! He is showing anyone he can, his knife and telling about starting a collection. You have just created another knife addict and future Blade Forum member.
It is people like you that make this such a enjoyable hobby. Thanks again
Bill

Just thought I'd let everyone know that woodcraft sells kits for wooden pocket knives. If your interested go to www.woodcraft.com . They may not have them on the website as their inventory is too large, but catalogs are free.

Thanks Bill,

I recieved your sons e-mail today. TRULY the pleasure is all mine. There are worse things to be addicted to. Thank-you very much!! Thats what its all about.

Just saw your post Matt-- Thats a fantastic idea, I've never seen them, but if you want to give your kids a real addiction buy one of those and help them put it together. Great way to share it with them !!!!

My kids got their knives today. As per the arrangement for the knives, I'll be posting pics soon. The little one for the 1.5 month old is just TOO cute. The wife actually liked the handle on one of the models and wants a "real" knife made like it.

Thank you again!

My son just got his knife yesterday; he's sick in bed with the flu and you really made his day, John. Thank you.

I just read the original post CLOSELY. John made a wooden FOLDER? Wow! Got pics?

Got mine in the mail today. Beautifully done John! I am giving it to my niece who is currently enrolled in the Girl Scouts. While she' s not ready for a fix blade quite yet, perhaps it will make for a nice group discussion piece. And she will be getting her non bladed SAK folder soon. I know she' ll be thrilled. Thanks so much John.

My son received his wooden knife yesterday. He thinks it is very cool and wanted to put a longer lanyard on it so he could wear it around his neck.

Thanks again guys for the kind words. I'm so glad they like them.

the4th-- Yes I did make some wooden friction folders. They take alot more time to make so I didn't have as many of those to give away. Sorry you didn't get one, maybe next time. If someone don't post a pic of one of the folders I'll take a pic of my sons collection and post that.

Thanks to all

Having your kids help make the kit is a great idea. Thats the best thing I can think of to help them get interested in knives, or knife making, and it will give them some understanding of what goes into a knife. For anyone curious about the kits- they can be put together with simple tools. A coping saw, hammer, glue and clamps are about all you need I think. It says it includes enough exotic woods and brass rod to make a couple of friction folders/ sliplocks, and instructions are included to help draw a design and make the them work right. The knife shown is sort of a barlow pattern.

John,
I hope I don't sound like I felt I was slighted in any way! I was just suprised to read that such a thing even existed and want to see one! The knives you sent are beautiful and we are very happy to have them.
My wife and a friend of ours are so happy with the model pictured below that they want to have a REAL knife made like it. The handle is extrememly comfortable.
