i had got myself a slot with john young some months back and he had mentioned of a 4-5 yr waiting.
some weeks after that his website was pulled down.
excess inquiries i guess but he could have let his website active.

Knifemakers with waiting lists that long are working their way into a problem. Eventually they can find themselves locked into years of doing the same old styles over and over again, becoming slow motion production lines. Going mid-tech only makes this official. Some people thrive on the security. Others go stale from lack of artistic challenge. As long as he hasn't taken payment up front, closing the lines of communication may only be his way of focusing on clearing up his commitments.
