Have known Johnny for longer than either one of us want to admit. :)
Although I always admired the fine work he does as well as the efforts he makes to help out other makers, I just never purchased any of his work until about 3 years ago.

When he mentioned a few years ago that he was getting together with Bill Ruple to get pointers on making traditional knives, I jumped in with both feet feeling that his excellent work would carry over into the slipjoints he was planning to make.

Well the idea of that carryover certainly came about even more so than I thought it would.

The first knife I ordered from his was a doctor knife (big surprise there).
This big puppy is as nice in every way as any knife in my crech with the action on both blades exceptionally well done.

Last year at Blade he delivered a whittler to me that he nailed as well as another Dr. knife for my good friend Holger.

Not sure if the next one will be ready for Blade.:p

I agree with ya Bastid. Them Texicans are putting out some nice knives.

Yup, there seems to be a few cropping up to keep an eye on thanks to Bill and Tony.

I am probably going to catch some grief from Johnny for starting this thread , but what the heck, I wanted to "show off" that Dr. knife he made. :D.

Hi,

That is nice. Another fine one for your collection. Someday you should do a "tour" for us.

I've seen some of Gus's knives from Johnny up close and they are awesome to say the least! Johnny's a hell of a maker and a good guy to boot.

dalee,

Check out the albums on my profile, about 1/3 of my collection is in there.
