Who has the KB Johnson Adventure Game Stalker, and what are your thoughts about the knife. From what little I was able to gather on the web (no You Tube vids yet), no reviews, and a short blurb from the Knife show, it looks like something I'd like to add to my collection. They call it a flat grind, but maybe I'm wrong on the definition, but it looks like a sabre ground blade. Anyway, share your experience and pictures if you have 'em.

Just saw these available online. Thoughts are, when I first saw it in a video I this they said it was going to be in 440 series stainless steel. Well specs are showing at certain dealers that it is in 1095CV... Sooo thats awesome... Did I mention that it is stonewashed 1095cv? :) The 4 inch blade, recurve esque design, full tang, and 0.188" thickness... I think this thing is going to perform very very well... The price tag is pretty nice too.

Well I have one. I like the blade a lot but haven't had a chance to skin anything yet. I am hoping to kill a deer this week or next since I just ate the last of the deer in my freezer. When the kill happens, I am for sure going to let you know how the knife hangs.

As for the steel? I have no idea really. Everything I saw leading up to the release said stainless but in the Ka-bar catalog it says 1095. So your guess is as good as mine.

But I can tell you for a fact that it is Hollow grind not flat Even tho the back of the Ka-bar catalog says flat.

Hope that helps a little.

Let me know if you would like any other pictures of the blade.

It looks very nice even with those orange scales. But I understand and all that.... It looks like it will take a mean edge... And you know we all love pictures!

I spoke with a knife person at KB, and they said I was half correct, it is a sabre grind, more specifically, a flat sabre grind...ground flat tapering off to a grind line down the center of the blade, or in this case, the grind line is about 3/4's up the side of the blade. Oh, and 440C was the initial steel to be used, but 1095 won the day. At a street price of $41.00, I'll just go ahead and buy one; or maybe I better buy several, since every time I go to Peru, everyone wants my "cool" knives.

Yes, more knife porn on this blade. Thanks.

Oh and Dex I think you are the only person so far who has posted pictures of this nice blade... possibly the first! Soooo Congrats!

And there were a few threads here a while ago with some pics when it first came out, I wasn't the first to post pics but I sure was the second! lol

I love this little knife. I am going to make some new scales for it eventually tho.

Here are the other two threads I remember.

Thanks Dex, I just ordered mine. Now, who is a woodworker in the same league as that Czech wood worker who makes custom Spyderco scales? I'm thinking a dark blackish 400 year old Slovakian Oak with black Buffalo Horn Bolsters would make this knife shine like no other....those goofy orange scales just have to go.

Well, it's settled...Tooj says the blade is 440A, the catalog is wrong, and I'm feeling even better now.

how would this knife do as a camp knife say as compared to a bk16? thanks

Mine is razor sharp but having the hollow grind, the edge is thin and I would not trust it to hold up as well as the BK16 to as much hard use or abuse.

I got mine just for skinning deer and other game.

You could use it for light wood tasks and food prep but I would not baton or split wood with it. The Bk16, You can baton thru small trees with that thing.
This is just my opinion tho.

Im glad this blade steel debate is settled! lol

Well, it finally came in, and I'm impressed with what $41.00 can buy these days, especially for a made in the USA 440A knife. That said, I need some wood, or maybe G-10, but having wood is always good, so who on these forums can make a set of ebony or Buffalo Horn bolstered and dark oak set of scales? Now, G10 would be fine, but if you don't have wood, chances are you go home alone, so who can give me wood?:D
