On Monday July 31, my instuctor in Arnis Datu Shishir Inocalla (the first person to be given a Datu under Remy Presas & one hellofa Ballisong user) came to a knife seminar with Bram. Shishir has been given the task of oganizing all of the Phillipino arts together. He is also trying to get Arnis into the Olympics(& hopefully knife).
After reading Brams book on Modern Arnis (Paliiden Prees Winter 2001) and watching the videos, & seeing the Spyderco Gunting, Datu Shishir promoted Bram to 5th Degree - Master Level as recognized in Arnis Marharlikaha (Great Being) and the National Govt. of Ph. is going to recognize CSSD/SC as a actual Ph. art. It's cool to watch a grown man cry & Bram definitley was overwhelmed(almost brought him to tears)!
Her really deseved it and also will be the director for Arnis Marhrlikha in the US. Congrats again Bram and good fortune for all of your projects.

Hey Bram - MEGA COOL!!!!!

Congratulations.

How easy it is to congratulate someone using a keyboard - how hard it is to get there after 35 years of hard practice and endless challenges...

Congrats, Bram!

Well done!

If you can't dazzle them with your brilliance,
baffle them with your BS.

Congratulations Bram! Quite an achievement.

thanks guys..REALLY..
Its only paper and I did it in only 35 years..not bad.
Shishir and others were VERY impressed with the GUNTING...
called it the Balisong of the millennium... hmm
I'd go for that...

Bram,

A friend of mine told me about a TV show he saw, where two VERY old guys were trying to go for Dan-8 in Kendo (the highest rank today - I think)

The younger (73) was coaching the older (round 80).

The 80 didn't get it - but he said he'd keep trying.

In light of this - you shouldn't feel too bad...only 35 years..

Oh yeah Scorpio - you have an eye for masters...

Gee maybe when I'm 70-80 I'll actually understand some of this martial art stuff and apply it to steel..
Scorpio has good taste and a good eye..and its cause he was well trained...LOL!
