I am looking for a style of knife that I saw a couple years ago an acquaintance was carrying. It weas a fairly small folder, 2 blades, I'm sure they can be made with more than one, but the unique feature that I liked about it was the larger blade locked into place and the unlock mechanism was to press down on the smaller (closed blade) to unlock the (open) large blade. Can anyone give me a name?

Old Timer? Is what I think I remember him saying. Not sure if that included the locking mechanism or not, but traditional is definitely the word I would use to describe the style of knife.

Morrow, that is awesome, and I appreciate the info, but I am beaten down from 5 1/2 of my 10 1/2 hours in 18 degree weather (5 with windchill) and I am interested in reading up on this just not tonight, could you give me any kind of guaranteed name or model to search to purchase one specifically for that locking mechanism? Been working 6 days a week 54-60 hours a week, for just over 5 1/2 months. Thank you so much either way.

PS: I have no use for a corkscrew,... unless I want to hammer it through the surface of a beer cap.

That is EXACTLY what I'm looking for, just need a name to search, I could find plenty of copperheads and trappers that more than likely would not have that locking mechanism.

Thanks goosey!!! I think I am going to get the frost cutlery and hope its worth it and I don't have to rebuy over and over again due to quality, its a little cheaper than what I was planning to spend but I do not want to spend $125 on the Cattaraugus when it will be a daily use knife.

I am here to advise you and ask you to please not get the Frost.
You do not want the Frost.

I've owned several Frost knives and all were a nightmare. Wobbly blades, bad handles, cheap steel, horrible fit and finish, etc.

That being said I'm sure there are ones you can get below $125 that are much better than the Frost.

But if you have the $125, that's not bad for a working knife that will give you years and years of reliable service. I carry knives that are well above this price range, use them, and wouldn't have it any other way.
When I think of the price of my knives, I think, it's a nice, good looking, quality knife, with excellent fit and finish that will be a companion for a very long time, or life. You can't beat that in my opinion.

Listen to BladeChic! I don't want to brand-bash, but Frost Cutlery, in general, does not make a knife that will stand up to the rigors of daily carry for long. Invest in a quality knife and you will be rewarded with many years of faithful service!

A loooot of people fall into the frost trap when starting out. If you plan on carrying it for a long time bite the bullet and get a trusted brand. That being said, I've met plenty of men who were satisfied with their cheap knives, however, you took the time to register here. I'm going to assume you care a little more than those other fine gentlemen. Plus, you obviously work your butt off... any of this making a dent? :D

Don’t confuse the Copperhead pattern with the locking feature. The only knife I know that has what you described is the A.G. Russell knife.

There is a current thread in the traditional forum about that knife.
