Got my 532 Master Series last week, thanks to all for your tips and help, especially to Larry Oden for the lead to Paul Lentz in North Carolina (704-782-922) who had one left and at a great price to boot.

The 501 Squire originally piqued my interest in the Buck Master Series, and the 532 makes a great addition to my otherwise hum-drum assortment of mostly non-Bucks. Feels great in the hand and locks up tight, tho it almost seems too nice to use (almost ... I'll reiterate that I'm NOT a collector).

BTW, does anyone know the RC hardness of the BG-42 blades in the Master Series?

Also, in regards to the 532, does anyone know why the blade edge begins so far from the bolster? 501 and 110 models both seem to start the edge much closer to the bolster, and my guess is that the 532 blade style is designed for a specific purpose.

Technology's the answer, what's the question?

Longden,
I believe we were getting 61 rockwell on those blades. The 532 was not designed diferently for any particular reason, it just turned out that way. Does that make any sense?

Way cool. I have been looking around for a Buck 532 for a while.

Logden, let me know if you come across another w/ BG-42!

Joe, thanks for the honest response. Interesting to know that Buck and religion both work in mysterious ways

Ray, if I see anything I'll let you know. For now, it sounded like the 532 may be offered in Pete's knifeshop on Buck's website in the next couple of months. If it was a collectible 532MS you were after, you might try the WTB forum ... some BF members can probably be tempted with a trade or the right amount of cash.
